Virtual Kyotera Health Run 2021
Now in its 4th year, the Kyotera Health run usually takes place in Kyotera in South Western Uganda.
However, this year, the run will go virtual – opening up the experience to participants/ runners across the globe.
Through this event, we shall commemorate the International Women’s Day 2021 with our Theme; “Supporting Girl Child Education through improving Menstrual Health for an equal future of women in leadership in this COVID-19 world.” Global Theme; “Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.”
Due to the corona virus pandemic, this virtual race is a fun way to keep our motivation up. The run will take place on Monday 8thMarch, 2021. Participants will run a distance of 10 kms from any location of their choice at their pace and time it themselves; they can choose to run individually or in groups of 5. Participants will be requested to take photos of themselves and post them on their social media platforms and tag @DrotyUganda on Facebook & Twitter and @droty_uganda on Instagram and use the hashtag #Run4HerRights21.
Local participants are requested to buy a running vest at Ug.shs. 20,000 and International participants are requested to donate USD 13.99 all through our website: www.drotyuganda.org/donate. The Covid-19 pandemic has greatly exacerbated challenges for girls who menstruate and all funds raised will be put towards scaling up Menstrual Health education, providing relief reusable sanitary pads and construction of decent separate WASH facilities (separate latrines, changing rooms, hand washing stations and incinerators) for rural girls.
The event will bring together various stakeholders such as young people, the local leaders, community elders, government officials, heads of schools and teachers, area members of parliament, and global friends to create a practical dialogue space through which lasting solutions will emerge
